  • Thames High School receive MOE Innovation funding ($25,000) for virtual school 'Coroednet' - Carol Moffatt's help
  • Phil Buchanan co-administrator with James Bruce - T Barnfield, Cantatech assists
  • Team of five site supervisors established
  • Te Reo Maori delivered via computer and web camera to cluster students from Cantatech.
  • Lead teachers and VC teachers attend first VC professional development 3-day workshop led by Chris Allott McPhee.
  • Computer programming (based on WebCT) initiated with Wintec
2002  
 
  • Tandberg and Polycom video conferencing units were purchased and installed into cluster schools.
  • First VC classes are delivered from CoroNet Schools - Maori, Japanese and Computer Programming - 45 students from five schools
  • One-day Principal's Conference held 26th June with Linda Tame
  • First Principals and IT HoDs meeting for CoroNet held in July 18th at Paeroa
  • 24th July, Principals view OtagoNet website and explore options for ICT PD funding application - vision 'to start a revolution in our classrooms, to begin a culture change in our schools ...'
  • September, Principals and Board of Trustees from Coromandel Area School, Mercury Bay Area School, Morrinsville College, Paeroa College, Te Aroha College, Thames High School, Waihi College and Whangamata Area School sign  the three year MOE Information Communication Technology Professional Development Contract

  • CoroNet Memorandum of Understanding signed by eight cluster schools
  • Te Aroha College appointed Lead School, Dave Douglas appointed Lead Principal
  • Each school committed to the ICT PD programme a significant proportion of its normal PD budget
  • CoroNet funds Project Director and Lead teachers from ICT PD funding. Faculty teachers appointed in cluster schools.
  • New VC teachers and Lead teachers attend VC professional development 3-day workshop led by Chris Allott McPhee at Te Aroha College in Term 4.
2004  
 
  • ‘Learning and Teaching in an ICT World’ regional conference organized by CoroNet was held in August at Waihi College for all cluster schools’ and visitors.  Day 1 was for all teachers, focusing on ‘ICT and Learning’. Day 2 focused on ‘Leadership and Whole School Change’ for BoT, SMT, Middle Managers’ and interested teachers. Jamie McKenzie (USA) was the keynote speaker on Day 1 delivering two keynotes presentations - “Beyond Technology: Questioning, Research and the Information Literate School” and “Inspiring Investigations”.  Margaret McLeod, Principal, Wellington Girls’ College was the first of the two keynote speakers on Day 2. Nick Billowes, Ultralab, National ICT PD Lead Facilitator "Empowering teachers - enhancing learning and transformative change for schools"” was the final keynote speaker.  Other noteable speakers present were Nick Billowes (National ICT Lead Facilitator), Mark Treadwell (Teachers@Work), Yvonne Blanch (Clusters Facilitator), Douglas Harre (MoE ICT Unit), Derek Wenmoth (Ultralab, formerly TCS), Jess Roddy (Cluster Fac, former HoD Sc. at McLeans) and Hemi Waerea (Ultralab, Maori Perspectives). Over thirty individual speakers shared their experience of intergration of ICT and powerful learning in the classroom.  A Plenary Session chaired by the Te Aroha School Principal, Dave Douglas and involving Nick Billowes, Derek Wenmoth, Mark Treadwell and Margaret McLeod and a Cluster Goal Setting Session Lead by all CoroNet Principals finished the Day 2 programme.  New Era, Sitech and Telecom were the major sponsors.

2005  
 
  • Students and teachers attended the first CoroNet eLearning Cluster Day, Term 1 at Te Aroha College.
  • Faculty groups introduced and established across the cluster, first curriculum group meetings were held.
  • KnowledgeNet OLE used by cluster schools for the first time.
  • New VC teachers and Lead teachers attend VC professional development 3-day workshop led by Chris Allott McPhee at Te Aroha College in Term 4.
2006  
 
  • Year 1 of Collaborative Innovations Funding for capability, sustainability and future growth
  • CoroNet e-School Dean (eDean) appointed - Jan Collier
  • CoroNet Guide for CoroNet was published.
  • Cluster eLearning subjects published for the first time on Virtual Learning Network (VLN).
  • Cluster enrolments were made via VLN for the first time. 
  • Students and teachers attended the CoroNet eLearning Cluster Day, Term 1 at Te Aroha College.
  • CoroNet cluster students attended the Volcanics Hui for students and teachers.
  • Problit - G&T programme for Y9 Science teams from each school
  • Te Wharekura O Ruatoki joined CoroNet as an associate member for video conferencing. 
  • New VC teachers and Lead teachers attend VC professional development 3-day workshop led by Chris Allott McPhee at Te Aroha College in Term 4.
2007  
 
  • Eight cluster schools deliver ten eLearning courses
  • Problit - G&T programme for Y9 Science teams from 6 schools
  • Students and teachers attended Coronet eLearning Cluster Day Term 1, at Te Aroha College. Students and staff from Volcanics cluster attend.
  • KnowledgeNet facilitators (3) appointed - Jan, Sheila and Bryce.
  • New VC teachers and Lead teachers attend VC professional development 3-day workshop led by Chris Allott McPhee at Te Aroha College.  eTeachers from CentreNet, Volcanics and TaraNet attend training.
  • Two CoroNet students and the CoroNet eDean joined the Volcanics' Spanish eTeacher from Reporoa College on a 3-week culture trip to Chile. 
  • Director,  eDean and Lead Teachers present OLE (KnowledgeNet) at Learning @ Schools Conference.  Director and eDean attend and present OLE at two TUANZ conferences. 
2008  
 
  • Nine cluster schools delivered 12 online eLearning courses via video conferencing.  eTeachers involved in VLN National eTeacher VCs during Term 3.
    • Problit - G&T programme for Y9 Science teams from 6 schools

    • First Abode Breeze class (Japanese) delivered to CoroNet cluster from SILC
    • Students and teachers attended CoroNet eLearning Cluster day Term 1 at Te Aroha College.
    • CoroNet cluster students attended Volcanics Hui for eTeachers and eStudents.
    • Final year of CIF funding.
    • CoroNet awarded eLearning Cluster Leadership Funding MOE funding for 2008-2009.  MorrinsvilleCollege, (as representative of the CoroNet Cluster) to manage funding. 
    • ePrincipal role established to run National VLN eLearning cluster leadership collective goals and CoroNet eLearning cluster specific goals of regional collaboration, transforming teaching and learning and effective use of eLearning Tools. ePrincipal and Assistant ePrincipal attended first NZeLC meeting in Rotorua in February.
    • ePrincipal on study leave (Masters in Ed. Leadership), hands over most leadership functions to the Acting ePrincipal.
    • Acting ePrincipal joins 11 ePrincipals/Cluster Leaders at the Leadership week in Wellington.  They were joined by our group of Mentor Principals and the event was hosted and coordinated by the folk at PDPC.
    • Five eStudents from cluster schools participated in New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER) VC on students’ experiences of learning in virtual classrooms in eLearning clusters.  All CoroNet students participated in NZCER online survey.
    • Term 2 Gael Donaghy led a Leadership Professional Learning workshop for CoroNet CLG leaders re NZ Curriculum, in preparation for their ToD in August.
    • In Term 3 staff from eight cluster schools attended a teacher only day (ToD).  Fifteen curriculum group meetings were held on location in the eight cluster schools.
    • Students from Area Schools participate in ‘Kids Conference’ conservation week 9-13th September.
    First CoroNet e-Manual published for cluster.
